Wanted, dead or alive: Bon Jovi tribute band
By Sue Jennison
When I saw an advertisement for the tribute band Jovi, I was so excited! I got right on the phone and called my fellow Bon Jovi freak JJ. She was psyched! So we made plans to take the trek to Nashua’s Boston Billiards club. We walked in and watched the sound check in awe.
We were looking at Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora clones on the stage. The resemblance is unreal and you do have to look twice. We found a seat where we could see everything perfectly, closed our eyes and were transported back in time to when we saw the real Bon Jovi on stage several times. For me – 12 times, for JJ – wel,l she just told me that she has lost count. I tell you – thank God her husband Shane is not a jealous guy! Because he knows that JJ and I would move heaven and earth for our boys of Bon Jovi.
We are freaks of all freaks. JJ just recently had a birthday and I knew right away that my gift would be something Bon Jovi related. It was a special Bon Jovi DVD that I am sure she has already worn out! JJ, can I borrow that? This show was a great opportunity to get our Bon Jovi fix. crowd loved them as did we. We all knew every word to every tune that they played. The members of the band come from Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut.
They all have the love of Bon Jovi and play 50-75 shows a year. They mostly play in the New England area but have just recently started booking nationally. They will be playing at Meadowbrook in Gilford, NH on May 3rd along with 5 other tribute bands. The band played all of our favorites from “Runaway” – (Bon Jovi’s first album) to the latest “Lost Highway”.
They played classics from “Keep the Faith,” “New Jersey,” “7800 Degrees Fahrenheit” and “Crush” We were absolutely blown away. They sounded fabulous! They also worked the audience with their charm and their talent. They performed every song to a T, just as Bon Jovi would have. I’m definitely looking forward to them coming around again. Please guys – come back soon! Rock ON… Check it out: Jovi is online at www.jovitributeband.com
